Tribal Fusion Bellydance:
n. a fusing of many cultures into one synchronistic compilation
v. the act of dancing together drawing from many techniques
to create one tribe, a visual whirlwind of shape, color, beauty and
harmony
Bellydance
is rich with history from all throughout the world, many of the movements
feminine and evocative, rooted in the Earth. Today,
bellydance and more specifically tribal style are being shaped and defined
by many dancers, techniques and cultures. We push the edges, exploring,
recreating the dance, fusing new styles. It is a tribute to our culture
- the melting pot.
The history of tribal style bellydance can be traced back
to troupes like Bal Anat, FatChanceBellyDance and Gypsy Caravan. Through
the efforts of these groups and others, with special thanks to Carolena
Nericcio of FatChance, we've come to a point in this artform
that we finally share a common language. That language is ATS- American
Tribal Style.
We can come together as women and dance, without
speaking, and move as though we've danced together for a lifetime. It
is a transformation that has and will forever change the face of bellydance.
Come join us dancing sisters. Help us create a movement.
Teachers are certified in American Tribal Style Belly
Dance by Carolena Nericcio of FatChanceBellyDance,
the creator of ATS.
